We had not arranged any hotel transfers in Florence but it turns out our hotel is two streets from the station so hurrah!  First day was pretty relaxing, I have some cool photos on my phone that I will have to get online when I am back in NZ.

Today (Florence day 2) we wandered around the city and saw all the sights, including Michealangelo's statue of David.  In fact we saw two statues of David and were not sure which was the real one... so we have photos of both to cover us!

In the afternoon we got a train ride over to Pisa and saw the leaning tower... thats about all there is to do there unless you want to buy a fake Rolex or two - the pirate street vendors are everywhere!  There are police everywhere and there is a fine of up to 10,000 Euro for buying the stuff... so business was not so good for them.

We have tried a few different pizzas while over here, quite nice but I think I prefer my own so far :)

We have learnt to ask how much it will cost for the hotel to do our laundry!!!  Five days worth of clothes came back dry cleaned, ironed, folded and put into plastic bags and coat hangers!!!  I don't think I've ever ironed our t-shirts before.  This is a wonderful service with a wonderful $130NZD price tag!  Lesson well learnt.

It's our last day in Florence today and it has been pretty relaxing.   Bought 2 paintings by a local artist.  Sat on some steps and watched the police repeatedly chase away the illegal street vendors.
